Tend Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
Tend is a plant care app published by Clearpoint Studios. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your phone, and how long anything is kept.

The short version
Your plants, photos, rooms and care history stay on your phone and are never sent to us. Reminders are planned on the phone. Tend has no account, no sign up, no ads, no advertising identifier, no ad network and no analytics SDK. We do not sell data and we do not share it with data brokers.
Two things go online: an anonymous install counter (RevenueCat) that starts with the app, and the support chat, which connects only once you open it.
What stays on your device
Stored in the app's private storage, readable only by Tend:
- Your plants, their names, species, rooms, watering and feeding rhythm and notes
- Plant photos you take with the camera or pick from your gallery. Tend copies the picture into its own folder. There is no plant recognition, and photos are never uploaded.
- Your care history (when you watered, fed or skipped)
- Your settings, reminder time and the counters that decide when to ask for a rating
You can erase all of it in the app under More, Delete all data. Uninstalling Tend removes it as well.
Android's own app backup is switched on, so Android may copy the app folder to your Google account and restore it on a new phone. That backup goes from your phone to Google, encrypted, under your Google account, and never reaches us. You can switch it off in your system settings under Google, Backup.
Reminders
Care reminders are local notifications. Tend plans them on the phone and hands them to Android. No server is involved and nothing about your plants is sent anywhere to deliver them.
Install counter (RevenueCat)
Tend sells nothing. It still includes the RevenueCat SDK, which the studio uses to count installs and active users per app. When the app starts, the SDK creates a random, anonymous app user identifier and sends it to RevenueCat together with basic technical details (app version, Android version, store country). If you open the support chat, this identifier is replaced by the anonymous support identifier described below, so one person counts once. RevenueCat would also record purchase history for in-app purchases; Tend offers none, so this stays empty. The SDK does not collect the advertising identifier. RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf under its policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Support chat, only if you open it
Under More, Support you can write to us. Until you open that screen, nothing in this section happens.
When you open it, Tend signs in to our Supabase backend with an anonymous identifier. There is no email, no name and no password. When you send a ticket, we store:
- The anonymous identifier
- The subject, category and the messages you write, and our replies
- The app version, the platform and the device model, so we can reproduce a problem
- The language of the conversation
Messages are translated automatically on our server (Google Gemini) so we can read your message and answer in your language. The text of a new message is also forwarded once, together with the app version and the Android version, through a small Cloudflare service to a private notification channel, so we see it in time. Nobody else can read your tickets. Other users of Tend cannot see or contact you.
Studio app links
The More apps section links to other Clearpoint Studios apps on Google Play. Once a day, while that section is open, Tend checks whether a listed app is available on Google Play by requesting its public store page. This request carries no personal data from the app.
Sharing your plant list
If you tap Share, Tend hands a text version of your plant list to the Android share menu. Where it goes from there is your choice. Nothing is sent to us.
Permissions
- Notifications: care reminders.
- Boot completed: restoring planned reminders after a restart.
- Camera and photos: only through the system picker when you add a plant photo.
- Internet: the install counter and the support chat.
Legal basis and where data is processed
Where the GDPR applies, support tickets are processed on the basis of your consent, given by writing to us, and to answer your request. The anonymous install counter is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing how many people use the app; you can object by writing to us. Our Supabase project, the translation and the notification service run on infrastructure in the European Union and the United States. Where data reaches the United States, the transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses of the respective providers.
Data retention
How long each kind of data is kept, and what ends the retention:
- Plants, photos, care history and settings on your phone: kept until you tap Delete all data in the app or uninstall Tend. They are never copied to a server of ours.
- Android backup in your Google account: kept by Google under your account until you switch backup off or delete it in your Google account. We hold no copy.
- Support tickets and messages, with app version, platform, device model and language: kept while the conversation is open. Closed tickets are deleted no later than 12 months after the last message, or within 30 days of an email request.
- Anonymous support identifier: kept while it has tickets, and deleted together with them. On the phone it is discarded when you uninstall Tend or clear its data.
- Support notification: the forwarded copy in the private notification channel is deleted together with the ticket. The Cloudflare service itself stores nothing.
- Install counter (RevenueCat): the anonymous app user identifier and its technical details are kept by RevenueCat for as long as we use the service, according to its own policy, or deleted within 30 days of an email request.
- Server backups: database backups exist for disaster recovery only and are overwritten within 30 days, so deleted data disappears from them within that window.
Deletion happens on the server itself, not by hiding records. How to request it, with or without the app, is described at tend-4uz.pages.dev/delete.
Your rights
You can delete everything on your phone from inside the app. For data on our side, the steps are at tend-4uz.pages.dev/delete. Under the GDPR you can also ask us for access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability, and you can object to processing. Write to clearpointstudios@proton.me and we will answer. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Tend is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has sent us data, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
